Approaches in bad weather too
Since 19 December 2025 Speyer can be reached by RNP instrument approach, the first airfield in Germany with an IFR procedure on a non-instrument runway.
It comes with an AFIS service, a weather station certified by the German Weather Service and a radar system for traffic information. That makes flights plannable, in winter too.
In January 2026 an organ transport flight landed safely in Speyer despite winter conditions, made possible by the new approach procedure.
